Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). After moving to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. Emma's dream was to become an actor. At the age of 6, she enrolled in the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught classes on singing, acting, and dancing. After eight consistent auditions director David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance came with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in the year 2001. The film was also the most successful film of 2001. Its opening days and weekends of ticket sales were record-breaking. Critics were impressed with the film and its performance. The Daily Telegraph, an important British publication, described Emma's performance "amazing". Emma received five nominations for her impressive performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress in a Film.
